Notes from
the Podium
Where words leave off... music begins
It is difficult. ,..no IMPOSSIBLE to put into mere words
the flood of emotions that we have felt from this special
group of students. The marching band has accomplished so
many things over the past months it is absolutely incredible
to think back to parents night and imagine the progress
that our students have made.
State Finals was so exciting for our students! Coming back
strong this year was on everyones mind, and together
we made it happen! This marked the 5th time in the last
6 years Castle has been in the top 5 at state!
Concerning BOA Grand Nationals, I was very disappointed
FOR the students, definitely not disappointed IN
the students. The band was fantastic on and off the field
and represented the school, community and parents extremely
well. There may have been 14 bands in the country that brought
home a bigger trophy than us, but no band has a bigger heart
than ours.
It is so nice to know that with all the problems
in the world today, our students participate in an organization
that stresses hard work, honesty and discipline personal
skills that we believe will benefit them long after the
marching band show is forgotten.
And the fun is not over yet! Upcoming activities include
Pep Band, Winter Guard, Drumline, Jazz Ensemble, Musical
Orchestra, Winter Concert, Solo and Ensemble, and All-State
Band auditions.

BAND
CAL.ENDAR
Be
on the lookout for the band calendar which covers November
04 through May 05. Your student should receive
their yellow calendar soon. Please ask your student about
this new calendar.
Please consider the band camp schedule when making vacation
plans, doctor checkups, dental appointments, etc. A LARGE
portion of our success depends on EVERYONE being at EVERY
rehearsal. Please schedule doctor appointments, etc. on
days the marching band DOES NOT practIce.

Notes
from the Prez
The
2004 marching Band Season was one of the most exciting we
can remember. Our students accomplished the goals they set
for themselves each week and excelled in doing so. Each
Marching Season builds on the previous, so next year promises
to be even more exciting, replete with its own challenges
and accomplishments. Now is not the time to let down. Among
our goals as Band Boosters is the purchase and outfitting
of a new semi-trailer, which is no small undertaking. There
are many programs and fund raising activities coming up
throughout the remainder of this school year. Our next important
events are the Candle Sales and the Castle Christmas Craft
Show. Many of you will be helping with these events and
your continued efforts are much appreciated. Our students
now begin the Concert Band Season, Winter Guard and Winter
Drumline. Of course there is also the Pep Band which entertains
at Basketball Games and is a lot of fun. All your efforts
supporting the Castle Band do not go unnoticed and they
are certainly appreciated. Our unofficial motto is Many
hands make small work. We see this simple truth proven
at every opportunity. Thank you, keep up the good work and
keep the spirit of volunteerism alive and well.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Maurita and David Wills

and clean up, SO please call AfafTawfik at 842-0305 or Chan
Reese at 858-6150. or email to:
castlecraftshow@hotmail.com right away to let one
of them know where you can help. The day is divided into
shifts so you can pick a time that is most convenient for
you. Our Craft Show is a great event (and a huge fund raiser
for the band) and can only continue that way with 100% participation.
BOXES NEEDED: We have a free gift wrap area
at the craft show. Please save gift boxes (even large, sturdy
shoe boxes will work br smaller items) for us to use in
this area. We also could use tape and bows. Thanks!
$$$$$ MONEY TAKERS NEEDED $$$$$
During the First few hours of the craft show all of the
entrances to school need to have many adults taking
admission fees. Later in the day when the large crowds die
down fewer people will be needed, but that first rush of
patrons will need lots of boosters to accommodate. Please
consider giving a few hours to help out with this or any
other area of the craft show. You do not have to be here
all day to help out - we have shifts to choose from. Thanks!
CONCESSIONS NEEDS YOU!!!
Valuable volunteers are needed to help with the concessions
on Dec. 4th We need 12 adults per shift. There are 4 shifts,
so you can pick a time that is most convenient for you.
Please contact Beth Williams at 853-9726 to help out or
if you have any questions.
