Uniform Information
|
Summer uniform: (uniform worn under marching
uniform) consists of shirt ordered through the band office
(students will receive these sometime during band camp in August);
black socks that are long, i.e., must fit over leg calves; black
band shoes; and black lightweight shorts-usually
knee-length nylon-type material. This uniform must
be worn at all performances, e.g., football game, parent
night, competitions, exhibition shows, etc.
Uniform tips: Once uniforms have been fitted and blue
travel bags have been assigned, purchase 2 or 3 pairs of black socks and
keep them in your blue uniform travel bag. Be sure to take home gloves
and socks and wash them in cool water and detergent and air dry gloves
after each perfomance. Don't forget to bring them back and put them in
your blue travel bag! Shoes should be taken home to be polished after
each performance. The band is not only judged on their musical and
marching performance but also on how they "look." Keep a large
plastic (grocery-type bag) and a quart size bag in travel bag to
separate marching shoes from glove when traveling.
Uniform Fitting Dates: Please mark your calendars:
Fittings are mandatory! If you are unable to come when
scheduled, you must schedule a
different fitting time and date. Details will be posted
later.
Become a member of the Uniform Committee-we have
a lot of fun 'fitting' the students for their uniforms
the last weekend of July, helping them dress and undress at
performances, preparing uniforms for competitions and travel, helping
students put away uniforms after performances and assisting with cleaning
the uniforms. We will also be helping them with their hats/shakos. You are not required to do all the different
tasks we do; you may pick and choose the activities you are able to do,
and
that best fit your schedule. Some of the best reasons
to join this committtee are getting to know the terrific
people you will be working with and all the talented, wonderful
band students, staff and pit crew!
