Pictures Needed

At the band banquet, held near the end of the school year we traditionally have a slide show with highlights of the year that is coming to a close. A photo CD is also created to provide lasting memories. Orders are taken at the end of the year for the photo CD's.

As in years past we are relying on pictures donated by band parents, family and students to make this a success. Pictures may be turned in to the band office at any time. All pictures turned in that have your name on them will be returned.

Guidelines for taking and submitting pictures.

• Pictures submitted electronically are preferred although prints will be accepted. Scanning prints results in a lower quality image and requires more time. For this reason if you can provide the pictures on CD or disk it would be most appreciated. (When getting film processed pictures can be requested on CD or online for a small fee. This will provide a much higher quality image, if getting prints only, please select the largest print size.)

• Clearly mark each item submitted. Place your name on each CD or print submitted. (We can not return your property if it is not clearly marked)

• Please separate the pictures by event. Car wash, Band Camp, Specific contest, etc. Multiple events can be placed on a single CD, simply place them in different folders. (Remember the photo opportunities do not end with the end of the marching season)

• Please turn in pictures near the time of the event. We are often working with several hundred pictures, and taking up to 100 man hours to put together the slide show. The earlier we get the pictures, the easier the process and the better the results.

• Preference will be given to faces. Everyone likes to see people they recognize. Although we will use some long field shots we need far more pictures of the students where we can see their faces.

Fun ways to get pictures

• Give your student a disposable camera and let them have fun. You will be surprised at the pictures they take.
• Take candid pictures. The students are always doing something funny or interesting, we simply have to catch them at it.
• Have your camera available around the busses, and equipment trailers as well as any other time you are around the band.

Please provide photos on CD to the Band Office, labeled "for slide show."
